Beginning the Greek Trapezi Collection
The Greek word trapezi means table, but it carries a feeling much larger than the object itself. It is where people gather, where food is passed from hand to hand, and where the heart of the home lives. This is where the idea of the Greek Trapezi collection began.
I want these paintings to feel abundant and storied, rooted in classical still lifes and the rituals of family life. When I think of the Greek table-scape, I think of so many different colors and textures: ripe fruit, olive branches, patterned linens - handmade food with love and care for the people who matter most in our lives. Food is a love language and this series seeks to celebrate that.
I chose the pomegranate for the first painting because it has long held personal meaning for me. In Greek mythology, it is inseparable from the story of Persephone, the goddess of spring and simultaneously the queen of the underworld. I named my photography studio after her, Persephone Studios. It became an early symbol within my creative life, representing richness even in darkness.
I have a few other paintings that are underway for the series as I fall back into rhythm with painting. These are my first paintings since 2020, after many health scares and life changes, so they are especially meaningful to me. Watch more of the collection unfold on my Instagram and my TikTok.
