Italy Vlog #4 - Pitti Palace [Lots of Art Reference Material]

The video below premiers tomorrow, April 9th at noon PST. Click below to watch it live when it airs, or anytime after.

For those of you who are as in love with the art and culture of the Italian Renaissance, I hope you can enjoy these photographs I took from our visit to the Pitti Palace, the home of the Medici. I often find that photographs of paintings / museums hold a different energy and feel compared to the professional photographs of paintings you can find online. It’s different when you can get a feel for the way the light plays with the paintings, and how they sit in a room filled with all the other paintings and sculptures of the era.

Fun tid-bit about the painting above: artists in this time often worked on designing parties for the wealthy. This painting actually depicts one of the largest parties ever thrown. I don’t remember the title or the date, but I just love that the artists of the time helped with party decorations, and then after the fact, immortalized it into a painting.
